Prices of sealed PAL region copies of Rule of Rose for the PlayStation 2 have fallen by over $500 after the discovery of 400 new copies in Italy.

The survival horror game is one of the rarest games on the PlayStation 2, largely due to its reception before launch. The game was very controversial, particularly in Europe. The graphic nature of the game caused the cancellation of the UK release, further increasing the value of the European copy.

According to Price Charting, the market price for a sealed Rule of Rose PAL copy in August 2024 was just over $850. But in September 2024, after the discovery of the new sealed copies, the market price has fallen to less than $320.

The recent discovery has thus far only affected sealed PAL copies of Rule of Rose, with other variants of the game retaining their price. In fact, not only have the prices of unsealed complete-in-box PAL copies of Rule of Rose remained unaffected, they are now higher than the prices of sealed copies of the game.
