Firewalk Studios announced Tuesday that the studio was no more, dashing speculation of a Concord relaunch.
The developers penned a goodbye message on Twitter, thanking fans for supporting the studio from their indie beginnings all the way to their work as a Sony subsidiary.
The message implied that the team would disperse into Sony’s development studios, saying “teams within Sony Interactive Entertainment and across the industry will be fortunate to work with them.”
Sony released a statement on Firewalk’s closure, saying they had decided to permanently “sunset” Concord. The statement also announced the closure of developer Neon Koi, which had been working on a mobile game for PlayStation Studios.
Concord was Firewalk Studios’ debut game, which they had reportedly been working on since 2016. The game was on the market for 11 days, after which it was pulled offline and off store shelves. In the days that followed, a report showed a $400 million budget for the doomed hero-shooter.
Concord‘s Steam page indicated that developers were updating the game behind the scenes following the takedown, indicating that Firewalk Studios was planning to relaunch the game after improving some of the game’s flaws.
