Yooka-Replaylee, the sequel to the hit indie 3D platformer Yooka-Laylee, will launch on the next iteration of the Nintendo Switch, the developers confirmed.
Alongside the logos for Steam, the PlayStation 5 and the XBox Series X | S, the new game trailer’s end screen featured a generic Nintendo logo, along with a pair of eyes looking about on top of it.
When confirming the consoles on Twitter, developer Playtonic remained cryptic about the Nintendo console.
The game does not yet have a release date set, giving fans no further clues as to when the Switch successor will release. Industry experts have been forecasting a reveal this fall or early winter, although no official word has come down from Nintendo.
Releasing in 2017, Yooka-Laylee was the work of a small team looking to create a spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, which at the time had not gotten a new release in nine years. A spinoff 2D platformer called Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair released in 2019.
