Hackers reportedly accessed a trove of information from Pokémon developer Game Freak, including the codename for the Switch’s successor, details about the next generation of Pokémon and the source code for both Heart Gold/Soul Silver and Black/White 2.
It is unclear exactly who breached Game Freak or why, but the leaks include some alternate designs for Pokémon such as Lickilicky, Wooper and Rotom from the DS game source codes.
The leak indicates that the current codename for the next generation of Pokémon is “Gaia,” although there is no information on what the final title for the games will be or if the final title is even known yet.
The leak also allegedly confirms that the codename for the Nintendo Switch successor is “Ounce.”
The codename “Synapse” appeared in the leak, but it is unclear what it means or what project it is connected to. Rumors are swarming surrounding the project, with some claiming it was a cancelled MMO game and others claiming it is an active project.
