With the Game Awards just over two months away, Atlus has given judges yet another title to consider for Game of the Year with their upcoming JRPG Metaphor: ReFantazio receiving rave reviews ahead of its release.
Atlus has now developed four games which will likely at least receive consideration for Game of the Year, also releasing Persona 3: Reload, Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance in 2024 to mass approval from fans and critics alike. Sega has been the publisher for all three titles.
While all four games face stiff competition for the top prize, facing an uphill battle against Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Astro Bot and Animal Well, Atlus’ quantity of highly touted games makes the studio a frontrunner for Developer of the Year at the Game Awards. No other developer has as many games at the top of Metacritics 2024 list thus far.
Boasting a 94 on Metacritic, Metaphor: ReFantazio is set to release Oct 11 for the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, as well as the Xbox Series X|S and PC.
