The latest expansion to Bethesda’s Starfield has released to strong negative reception, currently sitting at a 57 on Metacritic.
Released on Sept 30, the DLC for Starfield has become one of Bethesda’s worst rated releases on Steam, with over two thousand reviews coming up mostly negative. The top negative review on Steam blasted Starfield‘s lead developer Emil Pagliarulo as “the single worst thing to have happened to [Bethesda],” accusing him of perpetuating “mediocrity and subpar, vapid, and shallow story telling and game design still evident in this overpriced expansion.”
Shattered Space is retailing for $29.99, compared to the base game’s $69.99 price tag. According to Steam.db, the release of Shattered Space boosted Starfield‘s player count from about 14 thousand the day before release to 21 thousand on release day, although in the days following it has returned to a daily peak of as low as 13 thousand.
Shattered Space has the player explore the home world of House Va’ruun, a clandestine faction of the Starfield universe. The expansion’s campaign lasts just over five hours, adding to Starfield‘s 23 hour base campaign.
