Nintendo reached out to the creators of the Ryujinx Switch emulator Tuesday and requested they stop working on the platform and take the emulator down.
In a message to the emulator’s Discord community, one of the Ryujinx developers told members that the lead developer, known online as gdkchan, was “offered an agreement” from Nintendo to stop working on the emulator and remove it from the internet. gdkchan has yet to accept the offer, but he has removed the download from the site.
Nintendo has a lengthy history of going after emulators, most notably taking down the Yuzu Switch emulator. Additionally, Nintendo has been allegedly striking videos of people playing emulated Nintendo games.
gdkchan himself has yet to comment on the specifics of the offer he received from Nintendo.
