Epic Games filed a lawsuit against Google and Samsung alleging that the two tech giants colluded to Epic Games store from Android mobile phones.
In the 42 page document, the Fortnite developer’s suit alleges that Google “unlawfully monopolized and maintained a monopoly in the market for Android app distribution” by colluding with Samsung to turn on Auto Blocker by default. Auto Blocker is a feature on Android phones which prevents users from downloading apps from non-sanctioned app stores.
While the suit acknowledges that users can turn off Auto Blocker, the suit claims that Google and Samsung agreed to leave the setting on to dissuade people from trying to download apps from third party app stores. Epic Games claims that turning off Auto Blocker can be a 21-step process, however that claim is dubious.
Google and Samsung have yet to respond to the lawsuit. Epic Games previously defeated Google in an antitrust suit this past December.
