Fntastic Studios, known for their false advertising for their game The Day Before, are begging forgiveness from the gaming community as they look to fund an online party game.

Along with the launch of their upcoming game Escape Factory‘s Kickstarter page, Fntastic unveiled their “Fntastic 2.0” initiative, giving the impression of a new sense of accountability from the developer.

Fntastic released a seven-page manifesto detailing their goals as a developer, listing honesty, transparency and professionalism as pillars of their new business identity.

The developers billed Fntastic 2.0 as a “road to recovery,” claiming their team has shrunken in size since launching The Day Before. It is unclear if Fntastic fired a number of people or if they resigned following the game’s disaster launch.

The company has garnered vitriol from many in the gaming community, with Charlie White Jr., aka penguinz0, calling the group “fraudsters” on a live stream. Additionally, a line in Fntastic’s FAQ about some team members “helping out on a goodwill basis” has lead some to believe that the studio is failing to pay their employees. Game Wrecks has yet to confirm whether these employees are indeed not being paid.

Escape Factory has a goal of just over $15 thousand on Kickstarter, securing $9 thousand in funding as of late Friday afternoon. The game is similar to Fall Guys in that multiple players compete against each other in mini games.

Game Wrecks contacted Fntastic Studios but has yet to receive a response. This article will be edited to reflect the studio’s responses.
