Sony revealed the PlayStation 5 Pro Tuesday morning in a technical presentation hosted by Mark Cerny, slating the console for a Nov 7 release date.

The console will retail for $700 USD and lacks a disc drive out of the box. Users can add a disc drive if they so choose.

Cerny said the major goal of the PlayStation 5 Pro was to give players the speed and responsiveness of performance mode on games while also giving them the graphical quality of fidelity mode.

“When asked to decide on the mode, players are choosing performance about three quarters of the time,” Cerny said. “Removing that decision, or at least narrowing that divide, is one of the key targets for PlayStation 5 Pro.”

Compared to the original PlayStation 5, Cerny said the PlayStation 5 Pro has a larger GPU, advanced ray-tracing and AI-powered upscaling, calling these improvements the “big three.”

“Simply put, it’s the most powerful console we’ve ever built,” Cerny said.
