Warner Bros. released the first trailer for the upcoming Minecraft movie Wednesday morning, announcing a release date of April 4 of next year.
The live-action film, titled A Minecraft Movie, follows four travelers who become trapped in the world of Minecraft. Jason Momoa stars as a pink-clad adventurer named Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison, and Jack Black plays the role of the iconic default character Steve.

Commenters on the YouTube video seemed dissatisfied with the art style of the movie, with Minecraft mobs and textures stuck in limbo between their in-game looks and their real life counterparts.
One commenter wrote: “Not a single block, tree, flower, animal or character in this entire thing come anywhwere [sic] near close to resembling anything from Minecraft! Absolutle disater [sic]!”
The film also stars Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks and Sebastian Eugene Hansen, with Jared Hess as the director.
