Firewalk Studios game director Ryan Ellis apologized for the poor state of their embattled hero-shooter Concord and announced the game would go offline on Sept 6.
Although critics have been forgiving with Concord, fans have been generally unhappy with the game, and despite strong defenses from the likes of IGN, Firewalk made the decision Tuesday to refund all purchases of the game on all storefronts and cease further sales.
“While many qualities of the experience resonated with players, we also recognize that other aspects of the game and our initial launch didn’t land the way we’d intended,” Ellis wrote.
For physical copies of the game, Firewalk has placed the burden of return processing unto the retailers themselves. No major retailers have made any statement on how they plan to issue refunds, or if they plan to at all.
Firewalk appears to have plans to relaunch the game, with Ellis saying they plan to “explore options, including those that will better reach our players.”
