Developer Rocksteady laid off several employees this week, particularly reducing their staff in the Quality Assurance department.
First reported by Eurogamer, the layoffs come as a result of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League‘s poor reception both critically and commercially. The ill-fated game led to a 41% dropoff in video game revenue for Warner Bros. Discovery, with the company reporting a $200 million loss on the game.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League currently sits at a 60 on Metacritic, with critics unhappy with the game’s live-service model as opposed to a story-based game. The game is still online.
Rocksteady staff was reportedly told that the quality of their games might suffer as a result of the loss of talent in the Quality Assurance department. The studio has yet to reveal what that next project might be.
