Veteran developer Hideaki Itsuno announced via Twitter that his time with Capcom has come to an end.
Itsuno, who is best known for directing the Devil May Cry series and the Dragon’s Dogma games, told his fans he is “developing a new game in a new environment,” indicating that he is not retiring but rather self-publishing
Itsuno started at Capcom in 1994 working on the publisher’s arcade games. His first major directorial role came with Devil May Cry 2, with which he took a relatively inexperienced team and produced a well-received hack and slash title that served as a catalyst for a long-running series.
Most recently, Itsuno directed the sequel to Dragon’s Dogma, releasing for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows. The game received mostly positive reviews, sporting an 86 on Metacritic.
Itsuno did not reveal any details about his new game or when it will be released, only saying to “stay tuned for my next creation.”
