In a heartfelt thanks to fans for their support, Argonaut Games said they received interest in seeing some of the studio’s other classic titles remade in HD.
The developers of the original Star Fox game for the SNES, which took full advantage of the console’s Mode 7 pseudo-3D capabilities, announced they were doing a remake of their classic PlayStation game Croc: Legend of the Gobbos for modern consoles. The announcement received positive feedback, with Argonaut saying they received an “enormous, stupendous, incredible amount of love for Croc, and judging by the comments quite a few other classic Argonaut games too.”
Argonaut’s post was far from a confirmation of any future plans or projects, but the studio has a few titles to choose from should they choose to revive another one of their IPs.
Argonaut Games came off of a nearly two-decade hiatus from game development in 2017 with the release of Star Fox 2 for the SNES classic. In the late 90s and early 00s, they mostly made licensed kids games for the PlayStation, with one notable hit being The Emperor’s New Groove, turning the hit animated movie into a Spyro-esque 3D action platformer.
Very few details are out about the Croc HD remaster, but Argonaut said they would reveal new information in the coming weeks.
