The smash-hit Soulslike game Black Myth: Wukong is not on Xbox consoles due to a console exclusivity deal between developer Game Science and Sony.
Forbes gaming journalist Paul Tassi first reported the deal Thursday afternoon, contradicting an existing statement from Game Science claiming the game was not on Xbox due to optimization issues.
The specifics of the exclusivity deal, including the length of deal and the amount Sony paid to Game Science, is still unknown.
Microsoft’s statement regarding Black Myth: Wukong‘s absence on their platform implied that the game will eventually land on Xbox, saying they were “excited for the launch of Black Myth: Wukong on Xbox Series X|S,” and that they were working with Game Science to eventually bring the game over.
Black Myth: Wukong has exploded in popularity since its release, receiving rave reviews and contributing to the highest ever concurrent player count on Steam.
