Several GameStop locations have been retrofitted to exclusively sell classic video games as the company looks to tap into a market it has largely ignored.

GameStop announced Tuesday night that several existing store locations will start dealing exclusively in retro video games, from the seventh generation of consoles and older.

GameStop has sold retro video games for most of its existence, however the selection was generally slim, and the available games tended to be marked at higher prices than the going market rate.

With this new initiative, GameStop will now be directly competing with eBay sellers and independently owned retro game stores. Such a large player in the market could see competition drive down prices of retro video games overall.

GameStop has yet to provide any details beyond the existence of the initiative, but they did release a store locator to indicate which locations would become a part of the GameStop Retro project.
