Once a casualty of Disney Interactive Studios’ closure, the Epic Mickey series is one step closer to gaining new life after publisher THQ Nordic released a demo Tuesday for Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, an HD remake of the original Wii title.
The demo released for all current generation consoles as well as Steam, PlayStation 4 and XBox One. It is the same demo THQ Nordic showed off at Gamescom 2024 only a few days prior.
The demo released with less than a month to go before the game’s Sept 24 planned launch date.
Epic Mickey originally released for the Nintendo Wii in 2010, receiving generally positive reviews. The sequel, Epic Mickey 2: Power of Two released in 2012 for the Wii as well as the XBox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PlayStation Vita. It added full voice acting and multiplayer in the continuation of the story, although it received lesser reviews than the original game.
Disney Interactive Studios was planning a third installment in the Epic Mickey series, even leaving the final scene of the sequel on a cliffhanger, but Disney’s closure of their in-house game studio evidently suspended those plans.
